Graduates of the Electronics Technician Certificate program can continue their studies towards an electronics diploma or undergraduate degree through the following options:

Electronics Engineering Technician Diploma at George Brown College

Graduates of our program may apply credits earned in the Electronics Technician program towards advanced standing in our full-time two-year Electronics Engineering Technology program.

Graduates of the Electronics Technician Certificate program are required to complete an additional 7 courses to earn their Electronics Engineering Technician diploma. Of the 7 courses that are required, 3 communication courses are needed and 4 general education courses. These courses can be completed through George Brown daytime, night school or distance education courses.

Applying the Electronics Technician Program to a Degree Program

Students who have completed the Electronics Technician Certificate program may apply their credits earned towards advanced standing in the Electronics Engineering Technology program or towards a university degree by distance education in partnership with various educational institutions including:

  • Bemidji State University (Minnesota, US)
  • Athabasca University (Alberta, Canada)
  • Allen County Community College (Kansas, US)

Bachelor of Applied Science in Technology Management

George Brown College and Bemidji State University have partnered to offer a Bachelor of Applied Science in Technology Management degree. All courses are offered through video-conferencing and students are required to attend classes at George Brown College once every three weeks.

Students who have graduated with an Electronics Engineering Technician diploma are required to complete the Electromechanical Technician Certificate and Programmable Logic Controllers Technician Certificate and additional liberal arts courses to qualify for admission into the program.

Bachelor of Science (B.S.C.) Undergraduate Degree

George Brown College and Athabasca University offer a unique home study distance education program that combines award-winning technical education from George Brown College with Athabasca University's leading-edge science and liberal distance education programs.

Students who have completed the Electronics Technician Certificate through George Brown College, can transfer directly into the second year of studies at Athabasca University and continue on to complete a 4 year Bachelor of Science degree.

Applied Science Degree

George Brown College and Allen County Community College have partnered to offer an Applied Science degree from Allen County Community College. To receive an Associate of Applied Science degree, you will need to successfully complete the Electronics and Electromechanical Technician Certificate programs offered through George Brown College then enrol and successfully complete 15 credit hours of Allen County Community College general education courses.
